Our team was tasked with redesigning and assessing the functionality of My Career Advisor for it to best serve our users. Research showed a wide range of individuals using our product – from people unfamiliar with technology to veterans fresh out of service to high school students.

Resume Builder
Problem: My Career Advisor’s resume builder was outdated and losing usability. Often our career coaches would have to guide users to export resumes to Microsoft Word so they could fix layout issues created by the resume builder. Our users found the tool overwhelming and inaccessible, especially on mobile devices.
Solution: Rebuild the resume builder into a more guided experience to set it apart from competitors that expected a more tech-savvy user.
Job Event Calendar
Problem: Our career coaches at Goodwill’s Career Centers were having difficulty creating and sharing events they were running with our users. The current job event calendar only worked on desktop, while a majority of our users used the application on their phone.
Solution: Create a mobile-friendly calendar with clear labeling and tagging of events, allowing Goodwill Career Centers in different regions to clearly show what events are running in their area.
